These photos, destined for product packaging of home winemaking kits,
were created following very specific instructions from the client.
Black background, luminous wine, moving from bright to shadow right to
left, and with the red & white wine shots being as absolutely
identical as possible.
I had to experiment with some new techniques in order to achieve both a glow like this while shooting against black, plus the smooth gradation of light through the glass. Keeping the two shots identical was even more difficult than I imagined, as the red & white wines really transmit, diffuse, and reflect the light differently.
Ultimately, this shoot ended up not being nearly as routine as I thought it would, but the nice thing about a challenging assignment is being forced to innovate - and that can be fun.
Finally in mid October I managed to squeeze in a little time to shoot some new stock...it just took me a couple of weeks to find the time to come post about it. I do have an actual wine topic or two I've been wanting to write about also but I still can't quite squeeze in composing real blog posts at the moment.
